Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your safari guide who will brief you about your 13 Days Uganda Primates and Kenya Great Migration Safari. You will then be transferred to your hotel for relaxation after your journey. If time allows, you may visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre or enjoy a peaceful evening along the shores of Lake Victoria. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale National Park
After breakfast, depart for Kibale Forest National Park in western Uganda. The scenic drive takes you through lush countryside, tea plantations, and local villages. You will have lunch en route in Fort Portal town before continuing to the park. Kibale is known as the primate capital of the world and is home to a wide variety of primates. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge, relax, and prepare for the next day’s adventure.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Nature Walk
Early in the morning, head to Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for a briefing before setting off into the forest to track chimpanzees. The trek offers a chance to see these fascinating primates up close as they feed, groom, and interact. You may also spot other primates such as red colobus monkeys and grey-cheeked mangabeys. After lunch, visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a guided nature walk, where you will encounter birds, butterflies, and more primates while learning about community conservation efforts.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, embark on a scenic journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing through rolling hills, terraced farms, and rural communities. You may pass through Queen Elizabeth National Park with chances of spotting wildlife along the way. Arrive in Bwindi in the evening, check in at your lodge, and relax as you prepare for the gorilla trekking experience.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Cultural Experience
After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking guidelines. You will then enter the dense forest with experienced guides to search for a habituated gorilla family. The trek can take several hours depending on their location, but once found, you will spend one hour observing them in their natural habitat. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. Later, visit the Batwa community to learn about their traditional forest lifestyle, music, and cultural heritage.

Day 6: Transfer to Entebbe and Flight to Nairobi
After breakfast, begin your journey back to Entebbe with a scenic drive through southwestern Uganda or take a domestic flight (optional for convenience). Upon arrival, connect to your international flight to Nairobi, Kenya. On arrival in Nairobi, you will be met by your Kenyan guide and transferred to your hotel for overnight.

Day 7: Transfer to Maasai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, depart Nairobi for Maasai Mara National Reserve via the Great Rift Valley. Enjoy breathtaking views along the way and arrive in time for lunch at your lodge or camp. In the afternoon, embark on your first game drive in the Mara, where you may encounter elephants, lions, cheetahs, and large herds of wildebeest.

Day 8: Full Day Game Drive – Great Migration Experience
Spend a full day exploring the Maasai Mara in search of the Great Migration (seasonal). Witness thousands of wildebeest and zebras crossing the plains, often followed by predators such as lions and crocodiles. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the wild as you continue your game viewing experience. This is one of the most thrilling wildlife spectacles in Africa.

Day 9: Full Day Game Drive in Maasai Mara
Another day in the Mara allows you to explore different areas of the reserve. Track big cats, observe elephants grazing, and enjoy the rich biodiversity of the park. Optional visits to a Maasai village can be arranged to learn about their traditions and lifestyle.

Day 10: Optional Balloon Safari and Game Drives
Start the day with an optional hot air balloon safari at sunrise for breathtaking aerial views of the savannah and wildlife below. After landing, enjoy a bush breakfast before continuing with game drives. The rest of the day is spent exploring the reserve at a relaxed pace.

Day 11: Transfer to Lake Naivasha or Leisure Day
After breakfast, you may choose to transfer to Lake Naivasha for a relaxing change of scenery or remain in the Maasai Mara for additional game viewing. At Lake Naivasha, enjoy a boat ride and walking safari on Crescent Island, where you can see hippos and various bird species.

Day 12: Return to Nairobi – City Tour
After breakfast, return to Nairobi. Upon arrival, enjoy a city tour that may include visits to the Giraffe Centre, David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, or local craft markets. This is a great opportunity to learn more about Kenya’s conservation efforts and culture.

Day 13: Departure
After breakfast, depending on your flight schedule, you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your 13 Days Uganda Primates and Kenya Great Migration Safari.
